Corning, N.Y. — Corning’s leading person, John C. Corning Jr., was the top recipient of Forbes’ annual most powerful man honor last year, with $13.7 million.
He received more than $2.6 million in 2016, up from $1.9 million in 2015.
Corning has been one of the leading innovators and corporate leaders in the semiconductor industry for more than 30 years.
He also led the company through several challenging financial and strategic challenges, including the closure of the company’s main factory in Fremont, California.
Cornerstone Technologies, which was the world’s leading supplier of semiconductor products for semiconductor giant Intel, closed its Fremont plant in 2019.

Forbes named Corning its 2015 winner of the most successful person in business for a third straight year.

The technology company has a strong presence in the video game and mobile software markets, and its CEO, Brian Roberts, was a member of the Forbes list of the 100 most influential men in business.
